"What happens when you tax the rich and raise the minimum wage? Meet one of USA's best economies"snip//
During his first four years in office, Gov. Dayton raised the state income tax from 7.85 to 9.85 percent on individuals earning over $150,000, and on couples earning over $250,000 when filing jointly -- a tax increase of $2.1 billion. He's also agreed to raise Minnesota's minimum wage to $9.50 an hour by 201s8, and passed a state law guaranteeing equal pay for women.
We all know that equal pay for women is a slippery slope that leads to voting rights and the loss of corsets and hoop skirts. Mark Dayton's approach of making people who can afford to pay, pay, helped eliminate the deficit. Raising the minimum wage gave more people money to spend. Businesses like money and they like people who have money to spend.

Dayton, Smith backing Clinton
And they gave Gov. Mark Dayton and Lt. Gov. Tina Smith a huge, standing ovation when they showed up.
This is more fun than weve had all day, Smith said to Dayton as they stood in front of the cheering people. The governor, who has been a Clinton supporter since sitting next to her in the U.S. Senate, agreed.
Dayton urged people to get involved now and stay involved. You havent lived until youve gone door-knocking in Iowa in January, he said.
He also warned the people that the campaign against their candidate will be harsh. The character assassination, the money and the lies would knock down just about anybody so weve got to stand together, he said.

Gov. Mark Dayton today endorsed Ready for Hillary the national organization focused on encouraging Hillary Clinton to run for president in 2016. Via a press released from Ready for Hillary, Governor Dayton said:
Everyday, Minnesotans from all over our state and from all walks of life tell me that they want to see Hillary Clinton run for President in 2016. Their enthusiastic support comes as no surprise. Hillary Clinton is the most qualified person to be the next President of the United States. She has been a superb U.S. Senator and Secretary of State; she is an outstanding role model for millions of Americans; and she would continue the important progress that President Obama has made. I am proud to join the national movement that Ready for Hillary is leading to show her that, if she runs, she will have a huge grassroots army behind her.
If Clinton does run for, shell have the support of prominent Minnesota Democrats. Last month, U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (DFL-Minnesota), joined 15 other female U.S. Senators in encouraging Clinton to run for president. Please check back to politics.mn for more analysis on the 2016 presidential race.
