TEHRAN (FNA)- Since its creation in 2011, Great Housing Mission Venezuela has granted new homes to 388,841 families, vice-minister of planning and policies of the National System on Housing and Habitat Nelson Rodriguez said.
This social program was created by the leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Chavez, with a view to solve the housing deficit in the country, prioritizing families who remained homeless due to relentless rainfalls in late 2010 and early 2011.
"It is a historic record," noted the vice-minister at housing complex Turmerito in Coche parish, Caracas, where 32 families received their new homes on Friday, the official Venezuelan AVN News Agency reported.
The housing complex embraces 378 apartments, most of them for families who lived in makeshift shelters. Housing Mission Venezuela has already allocated 212 new homes there, each of them with three rooms, living, kitchen and restroom.
Turmerito is an emblematic place. Commander Hugo Chavez allocated here the house number 100,000 and he also inspected the works in several opportunities.
In the Capital District, where 60 houses are being allocated, the National Government has built 17,000 houses and other 32,500 are under construction.
