United Nations, UNICEF Praise Venezuelan Equality As Government Takes On Steep Housing Goals

United Nations, UNICEF Praise Venezuelan Equality As Government Takes On Steep Housing Goals
By Arlene Eisen

Caracas, 9th May 2014 (Venezuelanalysis.com)- Yesterday Niky Fabiancic, Resident United Nations Coordinator for Venezuela, praised Venezuela’s prowess in meeting the United Nations’ Millennium Goals. “Venezuela is one of the leading countries in Latin America and the Caribbean in reducing inequality,” Fabiancic said.

The country is also among the top five Latin American nations to drastically reduce childhood hunger, infant mortality and maternal childbirth mortality. At the same time, Kiyomi Kawaguchi, a UNICEF representative, reported to the Venezuelan National Assembly that Venezuela has met the Millennium Goals in children’s education and children’s rights. Between the years 2009-2010, some 7,700,000 students attended school, an increase of 24% over the previous ten years.

Likewise, Venezuelan Project Canaima, through which the government distributes laptops as a matter of right to primary and high school students, was awarded a prize in 2013 by UNESCO for pioneering in technical literacy.

Venezuelan Housing and Habitat Minister, Ricardo Molina, announced yesterday the ministry is on target in meeting their goal to build 727,000 new houses by the end of 2014.

Why on earth is the Obama Administration continuing the Bush & neocon policy of trying to destabilize Venezuela? The Venezuelan right is corrupt and antidemocratic, and the poor supports the government.

And for what it's worth, I support the Venezuelan government.
