Brazilian idiocy

I just returned from a three month trip to Brazil. Getting anything done was a nightmare and everywhere you turn you are hit with fees for this that and the other. Anyway, the point is that Brazil is incredibly corrupt (makes our government look like angels), with money being stolen, children starving on the streets, poor education, huge unemployment with starvation wages and so on. The people have never rebelled but will sigh and say "what can you do?" and life goes.
HOWEVER, they lived off one myth, and a pointless one at that, in order to console themselves that all is well - they had soccer! They were so proud of themselves, but not that they have lost badly, it is suddenly time for a change. What do they have now? HOw to bolster their already flagging confidence. So now it is time for a revolution of sorts (or so it seems) but we shall wait and see.
The point of this thread is that it takes a childish game of no importance whatsoever, to rouse some of the population into some political action. Sad.

It's such a shame that the region has not matured in terms of its politicians.

Most avid supporters of the corrupt governments of Latin America in this forum don't even speak the language of those countries.
