Oswaldo Paya Another pawn in USAID’s grand fraud - Granma

http://www.granma.cu/ingles/2005/diciembre/jue29/02paya.html

* Granma is the official Cuban newspaper

excerpt;
It was Cuban journalist Arleen Rodríguez who, during a “Roundtable” program on Cuban television, hit the nail on the head when she noted how Oswaldo Payá, a “dissident” presented by some media as a “freedom fighter and human rights activist,” has given his servile collaboration to a CIA project financed by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Payá was a go-between and later the national coordinator of courses designed to develop leadership for an annexationist transition in Cuba, Rodríguez explained. Since the year 2002, she noted, two representatives of the Mississippi Consortium for International Development (MCID) have been coming to the island disguised as tourists, under the names of Patricia Jernigan and Careen Bishop.

In February of 2004, Jernigan and Bishop had a four-hour meeting with Payá, and reached an agreement with him regarding a course that would be given in Cuba that he would coordinate.

Since then, it has been clarified that the U.S. government would contribute $2,650 for each cycle of the course, along with a salary of $3,650 to be paid to professors from the United States and $2,666 to cover the cost of hotels and airfares.

Payá himself would get $1,000 as a salary for the cycle of eight courses.

The first two courses were held between April 1, 2004 and June 21, 2005, with the presence of two professors from the Political Science Department of Jackson State University who also came as tourists.

Oswaldo Payá is a mercenary who has always refused to speak against the U.S. blockade of Cuba, but did enthusiastically cheer on Venezuelan coup leader Pedro Carmona in a public letter during the failed coup in 2004 against President Hugo Chávez.

The way Payá’s paid collaboration with the MCID developed shows all the signs of a CIA operation: the use of false identities, disguises and secret meetings. MORE

Cuba: Representantes de partidos de derecha europeos acompañaban “disidente” en accidente fatal

Right Wing party representatives accompany the "dissident" in fatal accident

MORE

Swedish youth politician injured in Cuba car crash
Published: 23 Jul 12 08:10 CET |

"Aron Modig is conscious and staff from the Swedish embassy are on their way to the hospital," confirmed KDU's press secretary Kalle Bäck in a statement on Monday.

The dead have been identified as Oswaldo Paya, one of Cuba's most well-known dissidents, and opposition politician Harold Capero.

A fourth passenger, Spanish citizen Angel Carromero Barrios, was injured in the crash which occurred in the Granma province some 750 kilometres east of Havanna.

The car drove off the road between the provincial capital Bayamo and Las Tunas of at 1.50pm local time on Sunday. The car then collided with a tree.

Yes, they could arrest him if they wanted to and didn't. They don't want to kill him,
or jail him.

I think they were letting him do that because it was minor and they got to know more
about the USAID operatives, etc.

By the way the biggest oppositional organization led by Elizardo Sanchez went to the
site and viewed the tree and said in his opinion sadly, it looks like a road accident.

The driver was the Spanish right wing youth - who now has to worry that he'll have
a legal situation for probably causing the death of two people.

My guess is he'll leave the country as soon as possible. Who knows if he'll continue
to talk about the truck that hit the car, I'd think the evidence would be visible if true.

The language in that article is just loaded nonsense. If they had a case they would've put him behind bars. I don't know why there is now this attempt to slander Paya after his death.

Elizardo Sanchez did rule out the possibility of a conspiracy, true, and I'm beginning to be inclined to believe it was an accident. But I still don't place much value on the propaganda that comes out of Cuban state media.

They have their propaganda. But they did watch the supposed dissidents who were being paid by the US government for many years before acting. If it's false someone will make a statement to that effect I imagine.
