Morales blamed the media for the privatization and capitalization that took place in the countrys neoliberal era in an interview on the Direct Democracy show.
Sectors of the Bolivian media used to defend neoliberal economic models, privatization and capitalization in return for a payoff from a special fund, Bolivian President Evo Morales revealed Sunday.
Morales blamed the media for the privatization and capitalization that took place in the countrys neoliberal era in an interview on the Direct Democracy show on Bolivia TV.
I was remembering how the media was a great defender, of course the owners were private, and according to information they were paid with funds reserved for those media outlets to defend that economic model. And they are responsible, some with security around the theme of privatization, around the theme of capitalization, and that Bolivia lost so much, the president said.
According to the president, radio stations, supposedly dependent on the Catholic Church, would defend processes that handed over resources and institutions from the state to private ownership.
I remember sometimes the Fides radio station was a great defender of the call to capitalization and I couldnt understand how a media outlet that depends on, and I hope Im not mistaken, responds to the Catholic Church, could be such a great defender of capitalization, Morales added.
