. . .
Organizers and participants of a 24-hour national strike slated for Thursday across Colombia have been threatened by paramilitaries, local media reports.
The country-wide action, called by the major trade unions, is planned in response to the poor economic and ethical state of the country, and the souring popularity of President Juan Manuel Santos.
But according to Las2Orillas, the greatest danger faced by strikers is violence from far-right armed paramilitary groups, including Rastrojos, Erpacs and Aguilas Negras who have already left a deadly trail of destruction behind them around the country.
The Colombian news website writes: The only thing for certain, in spite of so much hope and peace propaganda, is that paramilitarism continues here, intact and efficient, as an instrument of the powerful to crush all social insubordination that threatens the interests of generals, bankers, multinationals, local political bosses and 'caciques'.
