Dilma Rousseff: Brazil Does Not Deserve a New Democratic Break

Dilma Rousseff: Brazil Does Not Deserve a New Democratic Break

Brasilia, Jul 6 (Prensa Latina) ''Brazil does not deserve a new democratic break. Instead we should show the world and ourselves that we built a strong government, able to withstand economic and political storms'', said today Brazil''s suspended president, Dilma Rousseff.
This is part of a written statement by Dilma Rousseff that was read by her attorney, Jose Eduardo Cardozo, before the Impeachment Committee of the Federal Senate.

In her statement, Rousseff also confirmed that, on behalf of the Brazilian people, she will fight with all the legal instruments at her disposal in order to continue with her mandate until the end.

'Those close to me know that I probably made mistakes of personal or political nature, but those mistakes were never related to dishonesty, betrayal or cowardice', Dilma Rousseff said.

Regarding the impeachment process, Rousseff said that since the first moment her attorney made it clear that this process was started with the purpose of making Dilma Rousseff to cede power.

Dilma Rousseff also said that she has been the target of this 'charade' because, as President, she never gave in to blackmail or corruption.

the phrasing attacking democracy itself was a bad move. It makes her easier to smear.

I have a good feeling it just didn't come across cleanly, which happens.

What happened was that the fascistic right-wing found a way to cancel the election of Brazil's people of their own President, and they put their own scum in charge, all of them dirty, tied up in matters themselves which are actually being investigated for REAL corruption.

They broke the democracy which was in place as they voided the results of the election, in effect. As Dilma and others have pointed out time after time, they haven't found anything illegal they can charge her with, they simply intend to get rid of her.

In time everyone is going to know, but in the meantime, these guys are committing a monstrous crime against their own people.
