Daily Mirror Apologizes to Bolivian President for False News
La Paz, Jan 4 (Prensa Latina) The British newspaper, Daily Mirror, today published an apology to Bolivian President Evo Morales, after publishing a false news story with the purpose of damaging the prestige of the first indigenous head of state in Bolivia.
The Daily Mirror admitted that the information and the audiovisual material circulated in December and also published by Chilean media outlets was baseless.
'On December 26th, 2016, we published an article and a video reporting that the Bolivian president had accidentally accessed a pornographic site, using his cell telephone during a hearing in an international court.'
'We would like to clarify that the person in the video was not, in any way, the president and that Morales was not at the hearing. We apologize for that mistake,' said the newspaper.
