Ex Inmate Presides Over Peruvian Supreme Court

Ex Inmate Presides Over Peruvian Supreme Court

Lima, Jan 4 (Prensa Latina) The new president of Peruvian Supreme Court, Duberli Rodriguez, may be is the only magistrate of that level in the world, who has been in jail before beginning his judicial career.

That is why, he knows what he is talking about when he says that he took office last Monday with the challenge of improving the administration of justice, because 20 years ago, being a student, he was a victim of that system.

According to sources close to his office, the also former president of the Federation of Students of his country and leader of the Revolutionary Left Unit Bloc(Unir), was arrested and accused unjustly before civil and military justice, to incite acts of street violence.

In 1975 he spent seven months imprisoned after being tried by a civilian and military justice and recovered his freedom by an amnesty, that is to say that he 'lived in his own flesh the judicial precariousness' of his country, says the publication Otra Mirada, adding that this experience marked him forever.
