Chile Approves Plan for New Period of Antarctic Activities

The Ministers of Foreign Relations, Heraldo Muñoz and Defense, Jose Antonio Gomez, approved today the Plan of Antarctic Activities 2017-2018, containing actions for the institutions attending the region.
In a communiqué released today, Muñoz explained that among the challenges to come is Antarctic tourism.
Regarding that he said 90 percent of that tourism will be in the Antarctic Peninsula, 'that is, in a territory where Chile is claiming sovereignty', he explained when referring to ther Plan of Activities.
The head of Chilean diplomacy attended the 3rd Meeting of the Council on Antarctic Policy. Rector organ of the Chilean Antarctic activities, it is in charge specifically of establishing the politic, scientific, economic and judicial bases in that southern territory.
