Mérida, 7th September 2012 (Veneuelanalysis.com) Opposition legislator William Ojeda yesterday criticised a hidden agenda of the Democratic Unity Roundtable (MUD) opposition coalition. He was expelled from his political party a few hours later.
In an unexpected press conference yesterday, the national assembly legislator for the opposition party A New Time (UNT) charged the MUD with developing a neoliberal economic package behind closed doors, to be implemented if opposition candidate Henrique Capriles Radonski won the October 7 presidential election.
Democrats in Venezuela dont accept hidden agendas or neoliberal obsessions, he declared.
Ojeda was referring to an MUD economic policy document leaked to press two weeks ago, which advocates the deregulation of banks, opening up the economy to more private investment, and the reduction of state funding for public services and communal council projects.

(62,265 posts)1. Capriles has routinely come out against that paper.
He even changed his ad to assure his commitment to the Misiones:
And has called for the Misiones to be made law (and not something that Chavista's can just take away at whim).
Anyway, the OP article is almost two weeks old. Capriles fired some guy in his campaign committing fraud and has appeared to gain traction because of it.
He had a big showing at this stadium:
Then he finally was able to break into a Chavez stronghold, the Petare Barrio (note the big Chavez banner being happily ignored by the marchers):
And to think people actually argued that Capriles couldn't go into those areas because it would cause unrest!

(160,211 posts)2. How lucky for the opposition the private media can be expected to conceal
the agenda from the voters.
From the article:
Pro-government newspaper Ciudad CCS observed that Venezuelas private media limited reportage of Ojedas criticisms to placing links on low-profile sections of websites or focusing on the official opposition reaction to the comments.
This agenda really sounds familiar by now, doesn't it? It has been loathed around the world, for every reason in the world. More 1% "gimme".

Not even 30 seconds of effort.
Do we really believe that this was "kept hidden" when the state media played it up big time and even Chavez himself talked about it in a cadena?
Ciudad CCS is a state paper. I don't think they can prove that allegation. De Lima and Ojeda were thought to be the end of Capriles campaign and then the later Juan Carlos Caldera was thought to be the nail in the coffin.
That didn't happen. Terrified they are of Capriles surge. Waiting for the assassination attempt or more trumped up stuff like him being gay or something.

(20,582 posts)4. Yes, and isn't it sickening?
The people of Venezuela seem to have caught on though and hopefully all will be aware of this 'hidden agenda' through other means. The internet has changed everything ... right-winger nuts are finding it harder and harder to cheat, lie and not get caught. You're right though, the tactics being used here are disgusting and the players, loathsome.
