Venezuela's Madman Maduro: If we can't achieve with votes, we will achieve with violence

Translation: “I say this for the whole world to hear, and I hope that the world would listen after 90 days of violence, destruction and death, if Venezuela falls into chaos and violence, if the bolivarian revolution is destroyed, we’ll fight back, we’ll never surrender and what we couldn’t achieve through votes, we’d do with guns, like Bolívar, Sucre and Negro Primero did before us. Make no mistake, we want peace, we’re peaceful men and women, but we’re fighters.” Nicolás Maduro, 28/06/2017

Chavez wasn't a dummy. He knew that he could count on his zealots to carry on his legacy. That is why he armed them... his "colectivos"... not to defend Venezuela from the vile spectre of US imperialism (Chavez' eternal boogeyman)... but to protect his version of Bolivarism from any future governments that might be tempted to roll back Chavismo.

Where US military and the state's National Guards pledge fealty to the US Constitution, Chavez/Maduro's brownshirts (GNB) and redshirts (colectivos) pledge fealty to Chavismo. They are fanatical... and they are the only ones with guns.

cascade towards open fighting. I don't know if they're up to it, after years of Cuban "tehnical assistance".

and the middle ranks saturated with Cuban trained "plants" to let their masters know when any dissent is afoot.

It is going to be very ugly, as nobody in the military knows who, in reality, supports who. And with over 4000 generals (!!!) populating the upper tiers of the military and SEBIN (Bolivarian Intelligence Service... think Stasi, Gestapo) who are getting paid in dollars (thanks, Goldman Sachs!)... things are going to get very bloody.

The smart Chavistas are already jumping ship. I'm afraid it won't end well for anyone. I fear that their will be lynchings and reprisals, with the poor getting the lions share. Already the paybacks have started, and Maduro is only to content to let it happen in the name of party purity. If he actually cared, he would have had elections. Instead, he insists the solution is a different "Bolivarian" Constitution.
