Soldiers Guarantee Referendum Security in Ecuador

Quito, Jan 19 (Prensa Latina) Nearly 33,000 soldiers are participating today in the custody and security of the different stages planned for the consultation and popular referendum, scheduled for February 4 in Ecuador.

The members of the Armed Forces are currently watching over the facilities of the Military Geographic Institute where all related to the upcoming vote is printed and the transfers of all documents are safeguarded.

The details were given by Defense Minister, Patricio Zambrano, from the electoral security table, where the printing of ballot papers already reaches 90 percent and the 70 percent of the modules for the detention centers, where those people deprived of their freedom without a final judgment will vote, were delivered.

The minister took advantage of the meeting to ratify the transparency in the process, in order to rectify some corrections that the National Electoral Council has executed, especially in the custody after the vote counting.
