InterAmerican Development Bank closes another door on Venezuela regime

Inter-American Development Bank will not lend more money to Venezuela until it pays debts
May 23, 2018

The Inter-American Development Bank ( IDB ) said on Tuesday, May 22, that it will not grant more loans to Venezuela until the country, which is going through a deep economic crisis, repays the payments in arrears it has with the agency.

Caracas has a total debt of 2011 million dollars with the IDB , but the bank said that it reached the 180-day deadline that the institution contemplates for payments in default and must pay 88 million dollars to regularize its situation.

"Under the IDB's rules on delinquent payments, the bank can not perform any loan activity with Venezuela until its arrears come due," the multilateral agency said in a statement dated May 14.

According to the bank, Venezuela has a total of payments in arrears for 2011 million dollars, including those that have not yet reached the 180 day deadline to be paid.

Venezuela's Ministry of Communications and Information did not immediately respond to a request for comments from Reuters on Tuesday.

The Chavists are paying an outstanding debt to a Chinese company for construction materials worth $19 million dollars, on a 10 year installment plan. I'm pretty sure that any nation sitting on the wealth of oil and natural resources that Venezuela is sitting on... and has to pay off a $19 million dollar loan over 10 years... they are doing EVERYTHING wrong.
