Colombia's football federation demands watchdog stay quiet over illegal ticket sales
by Stephen Gill September 12, 2018
Colombias Football Federation (FCF) on Tuesday confirmed that it has sued the Superintendency for Industry and Trade (SIC) to prevent the body from releasing information over illegal ticket sales.
The federation claims that the purpose of the action is to guarantee its right to due process as the SIC continues with an investigation into claims that the association officials illegally sold tickets for qualifying games in the lead up to the World Cup in Russia earlier this year.
The Colombian Football Federation has filed an action with the aim of protecting the rights of presumption of innocence, due process and self-defense in the framework of the investigation, read a statement by Colombian footballs governing body.
This appeal has been filed as a result of media prejudice and misinformation in the framework of the process being carried out and, which from all points of view, disrespects the rights of the FCF, it added.
