Petro's Uribe-bashing fest was due rectification of war crimes claim: court

by Adriaan Alsema October 12, 2018

Colombia’s former President Alvaro Uribe suffered another defeat in court on Friday when the Constitutional Court ruled that opposition leader Gustavo Petro duly rectified war crime claims by presenting evidence.

The court had ordered Petro to rectify the claim made on radio station W after Uribe sued the senator and former presidential candidate for slander.

Instead of retracting his claim, the opposition leader took the microphone again, and doubled down by citing a list of facts, evidence and testimonies that led to his “opinion” that “there are indications that merit a criminal investigation.”

The former president’s attorney sued Petro again, but was told that Petro “effectively carried out the process of rectification.”
