Famous Mexican actor and federal health delegate publicly argue about conditions inside Tijuana hospitals
TIJUANA A famous Mexican actor who took to Twitter on Sunday to plead for resources for Tijuana doctors faced immense social media backlash and was publicly criticized by Baja Californias federal delegate to Mexicos public health system.
The governor of Baja California then weighed in on the controversy Monday, saying the actor did not tell lies and that doctors were falling like flies in the northern border state.
Actor and comedian Eugenio Derbez posted video to Twitter Sunday of him reading a letter he said was from a doctor at Tijuanas IMSS-20 public health clinic, saying many medical workers there had fallen ill because of a lack of personal protective equipment.
According to Derbez, the letter which was also reported in Spanish-language media said the hospital was overwhelmed with coronavirus patients and people diagnosed with atypical pneumonia.
