The United States will not hesitate on honoring an extradition request for former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro if Brazil comes seeking one, an official revealed.

The former far-right leader has been hunkering down in Florida after he abandoned the South American nation two days before his term expired.

Bolsonaro has been accused by the administration of leftist President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva of inciting the January 8 insurrection when supporters charged into Congress, the Supreme Court and presidential palace, and continuing to suggest that there was interference in the October elections.

The riot stirred memories of the January 6, 2021, assault on the U.S. Capitol by supporters of then-President Donald Trump.
