Laugh of the day = Newsmax and Dick Morris oppose Kerry as SoS because he is a 'Castro Sympathizer'

Not posting the link here, no need to promote Newsmax, but the fun thing is that the far right has tried to create opposition to Kerry for a while (by that, I mean Newsmax, the SwiftBoat liars, ...), but they never seem to find any traction with the traditional and Tea Party Senators.

Aside from the fact that the claim is ludicrous (what's new with Dick Morris making things up), it seems that Dick Morris is using this as a fund raising tool.

to appoint someone else.

I'm amazed that Dick Morris has retained an ounce of credibility, even with the readers of Newsmax.

surprising considering his public positions on the SFRC. (The one I think comes out a bit badly is Menendez - as he likely knew what he was jeopardizing to pander to the Cuban American right wing. )

Even in this Miami Herald article they are skeptical of the report as leaning too much to the right - and even that does not show Kerry in a bad light.

I remember when Kerry questioned the funding that was mostly going to rw Cuban Americans and having no positive results. The questioning happened as they wasted money on luxury items that could not possible help bring democracy to Cuba. (

Kerry also questioned the funding for Radio Mardi (?), which was jammed in Cuba - so no one there could listen to it - and it was expensive.

Personally, I like that Kerry has advocated a sane policy given that the Cuban embargo has not worked in the 50 years it was in practice.

people that are not nice.

Syria came back today. http://washington.cbslocal.com/2013/01/11/kerry-syrian-president-assad-has-been-very-generous-with-me/

It seems it should be a positive for a Secretary of State, but apparently, some think otherwise.

as would any SOS. So, it is clearly a positive if someone does that well.

As to foreign policy, people like Condi Rice (in her book) and John McCain have praised Kerry's knowledge and insight.
