Has anyone used PODS for a move? Did you read their contract?

They don't seem to have any responsibility for anything. I've put off signing the agreement while my insurance agent checks the fine print of my homeowners' policy. I also asked her to find a policy to cover in-transit damages.

I'm interested if you have used their services.

3. Yes, kept my stuff in storage for 2 years

I moved to Texas from Massachusetts to look after my mom. Since I was going to live at her place for a while, there was no room for my stuff. So I put my stuff in a POD, left it in MA and moved to TX. After 2 years I decided I needed more room so I found an apartment nearby and moved there. Had the POD delivered from MA to TX, it arrived, and everything in there was just as I had left it two years before. This included some leather living room furniture, fine wood bedroom furniture, and electronics. No damage whatsoever.

I can understand why they don't take responsibility since it is up to the owner to pack the POD and if you damage your stuff doing it they don't want to be the ones to pay for it.

If you do a good job packing, or hire professionals to do it, you have nothing to worry about.

is destroyed in a wreck during transport, fire, or natural disasters. That's the part I'm concerned about and am seeking additional insurance coverage.

10. If I remember correctly, my renter's insurance covered it. I kept the policy going.

You may want to check with your carrier.

4. Yes, we used them to move from Dallas. Left stuff on trailer for a couple of months

One Tip - put the heavy stuff at the back), lighter stuff in front. We packed the books in front and they shifted in transit. As stated, if nervous, hire professional packers. They are smaller that you think though - size of a "pup" trailer, not a full-size.

Everything was fine. Worked out well. Nothing damaged or missing. Delivered to the new address when they said they would. If you’re uneasy, pack everything securely. Husband tied it all up inside with rope so nothing would shift weight or fall.

they need to do. Secure the load. The reason being that containers get banged around in transit and stuff jiggles its way out of place just going down the road on the back of the truck in normal conditions..

Don’t do the packing.

We had to use a company out of PA because PODS couldn’t deliver to our address due to the power lines being too low.
