More messages of: Men are filled with evil, cause Testosterone!

The video linked to on this article -( http://www.democraticunderground.com/1016103751 )- points to testosterone as being one of the causes of corruption.

However, the only relationship that is actually established between testosterone and leadership rolls in this recently released pay-to-read "scholarly study" is there are increased amounts of the oft maligned hormone in someone who has increased levels of excitement (which is true for everyone!).

Point of fact, this study fails to establish a causal relationship between corruption and Testosterone.
More over, this study:
quite clearly dispels the "Testosterone is bad, mmmkay" myth.

evidence refutes the preconception that testosterone causes aggressive, egocentric, and risky behavior.

This study is more designed to bilk unsuspecting individuals out of their money, than to shed any real light on the reasons for corruption. I suspect there is no silver-bullet answer to this question as it invokes the age old nature vs. nurture debate.

1. NCBI

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1635092

To study the potential differences that distinguish homicides involving women as victims or offenders from those involving men, we analyzed Federal Bureau of Investigation Uniform Crime Reports data on homicides that occurred in the United States between 1976 and 1987. Only cases that involved victims aged 15 years or older were included. Persons killed during law enforcement activity and cases in which the victim's gender was not recorded were excluded. A total of 215,273 homicides were studied, 77% of which involved male victims and 23% female victims. Although the overall risk of homicide for women was substantially lower than that of men (rate ratio [RR] = 0.27), their risk of being killed by a spouse or intimate acquaintance was higher (RR = 1.23). In contrast to men, the killing of a woman by a stranger was rare (RR = 0.18). More than twice as many women were shot and killed by their husband or intimate acquaintance than were murdered by strangers using guns, knives, or any other means. Although women comprise more than half the U.S. population, they committed only 14.7% of the homicides noted during the study interval. In contrast to men, who killed nonintimate acquaintances, strangers, or victims of undetermined relationship in 80% of cases, women killed their spouse, an intimate acquaintance, or a family member in 60% of cases. When men killed with a gun, they most commonly shot a stranger or a non-family acquaintance.

2. I fail to see how that's germane to the discussion at hand.

Particularly since your cited link doesn't even mention testosterone.

4. And while you're perfectly capable of nitpicking spelling errors...

you appear incapable of refuting or engaging in meaningful conversation regarding the topic at hand.
Are you just here to troll?

5. Well, can't you see? It is obvious.

Because men kill women, and men have testosterone in higher levels than women, then ergo testosterone is the 'killer' hormone.

6. Right? Men are CEARLY evil!

I mean, after all, it means absolutely nothing that the study claiming a link between corruption and testosterone is not only new, but also not peer-reviewed... Or that the same study seems to indicate men are incapable of making choices or being responsible for those choice, cause testosterone!!!!

Remember everyone: Evil = Testosterone... Testosterone + Men = Evil Men who are not responsible for anything they do!

7. Sounds like a warmed-over gun-control study.

8. Yes. It's absolutely revolting.

Like men are a kind of organic robot. Utterly foul.
