As for the alert... Well, I could have some choice things to say about that; fact is, alerting to try to shut down the discussion of a news story about a sexual assault- seems to me that's exactly the sort of rape apologia which we should be working overtime to have scrubbed permanently from DU.

If they make their case reasonably, I will self-delete it. If it's so onerous and offensive it deserves an alert, the alert should be explained. As a host of this group, I am certainly open to hearing the complaints if a thread is potentially problematic.
