An exchange system based on "Orthodox morality" might have certain virtues, however, I doubt it will allow one to purchase things like Boeing jet airliners, Siemens electrical equipment, GE gas turbines, Cisco servers, Hitachi MRI machines, etc. Those things take dollars, Euros, or other established currencies.

as a source of reliable information about the world. I wouldn't trust him to tell me how to cross the street, much less to provide accurate information about Russia. I hadn't heard his comments -- and if I had, anything he says goes immediately to the junk pile.

My earlier comments stand. Good luck to them. If they believe they can rebrand the Ruble, or whatever, as a stable and valuable currency that can compete with the dollar, then good luck.

I can certainly understand why they would want to. I would also like to create a currency of my own and have it recognized a valuable form of exchange.
