#143 - TA brings up please be sure to include the planetary atmospheric CO2 concentration levels after 70 years of our use of nuclear power plants.
#144- NN: U.S. built more than 100 nuclear reactors in 25 years while providing the cheapest electricity in the industrial world. (#77: Jim Hansen showed in 2013 these reactors, many still working today saved close to 2 million lives. More on Hansen in #92)

#147 - TA last word to NN (likely no NN response because of the hide): Or the fossil fuel industry went all out to discourage any non-CO2 sources of energy at the same time that the global population doubled.
#100 - TA on some new way to store hydrogen - "scientists at Lancaster University in the UK have discovered a new material that can store four times more hydrogen in the same volume as current fuel cell technologies. It also doesn’t require external heating and cooling." with link and excerpt

BOOKMARK THREAD ( 26 ) (LC 7/11/23 -- last post 7/2/23.) - Cheers ... The US is set to add 41 GIGAWATTS of solar power in the next 12 months -- NN;adir says that 41 GW at California's 2022 CF of 26.2% is 0.339 exajoules on a planet that used 624 exajoules in 2022. The 26.2% California CF is optimistic for the nation on average (less sun more panel-covering snow). Math is correct - see notes below: s. for post ID 1127;163;632 ### Th;ink. Again responds that he doesn't advocate using natural gas as backup, but rather batteries and hydrogen, and more renewable energy ... These methods are not fantasies, they are up and running and producing energy every day. ### #5-I'm not an anti-nuke antinuke again, twice #### TA: Yes, it is obvious you don't care about our need to stop using fossil fuels,### TA: I believe your wish to only use natural gas for any back-up system is wrong. ## NN says he's done ## Hu;gh Le;bowski jumps in ## TA #9 - (HUH?) #25 Hugh - I've spoken with Th;ink Ag;ain in DM's and s/he's maintained that this in fact their position, that they think 'use nuclear where it makes sense, all that matters is the end goal of less CO2'.

BOOKMARK THREAD ( 8 ) - Hydrogen is getting big, fast -- Ce;ntralMass (Hydrogen skeptic vs. Th;ink. Maybe I assumed it was correct since the price of food has increased at my supermarket a lot in the past 4 months on almost everything. The chart says that only lettuce has increased a lot while eggs decreased. I wonder why the prices where I live are going up so much on stuff like dairy, fish and seafood, chicken, and pretty much everything.

I lack some mental facility for noticing price increases, at least on food. I go over just about every grocery tab to see what things cost, but it just doesn't make much of an impression on me -- i don't notice the price increases, just some stick-out items like Tasters Choice French Roast $9.69 or something obscene like that, but it's always been obscene. And I know that buttermilk cost more than 2X as much as milk. But that's about all that sticks in my head.

Even though as a single I do ALL my food shopping.

I would never make a good political candidate because I'd never get that reporter question right on the cost of milk.

But I do know and get upset when they ring up Roma tomatoes as some more expensive variety, like vine-on tomatoes. There's no freaking vines on the Roma tomatoes. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
