[Music - Tom Breiding]:

[Cecil Roberts 1]: “You still fired up? Are ya fired up! Are you fed up? Are you ready to fight? We stand today not because we want more money. We want justice today!”

United Mine Workers of America President Cecil Roberts. Five thousand coal miners and their supporters rallied in Henderson Kentucky Tuesday demanding justice from Peabody Energy , Patriot and Arch Coal. The UMWA says Peabody is robbing miners of retiree benefits by using bankruptcy law in a scheme to get rid of pension and retiree health care obligations earned by miners who spent decades in the mines. The union is appealing the bankruptcy ruling and is organizing a movement to fight the loss of the promised and earned benefits.

[Cecil Roberts 2]: “This movement right here is the United Mine Workers Travelin’ Salvation show!”

Doyle Conyer is a retired Crittendon Kentucky miner.
