New Massachusetts Law Gives Domestic Workers Labor Protections

Massachusetts domestic workers have labor protections they used to lack, thanks to a new law signed by Governor Deval Patrick this week. The Massachusetts AFL-CIO says the new labor standards will help end abuses and mistreatment of domestic workers in the state. The new law gives domestic workers providing in-home services unemployment insurance, worker’s comp, breaks, sleep and rest periods and minimum wage protection.
