Any opinions with regard to stating the minimum amount of $ you'll work for in your cover letter?

I'm going to send off a resume this weekend for a job that has a salary range listed on its ad. (They are not asking for applicants to state what they expect in remuneration.) It doesn't sound like a fabulous place to work at, and I couldn't see myself working there for much less than the upper-end amount that they stated. I'm also pretty well qualified.

Does anyone think that stating in the last paragraph of my cover letter something like "I'm available for $X/hour starting wage", that I'm just shooting myself in the foot? (I know when I used to hire staff for my company, that kind of honesty could have saved both parties time and grief.)

1. Honesty & Straight Forward

Personally, I dont think there is anything wrong with it. IF you are firm and are not willing to negotiate, then I would say go for it. What is the worst that could happen, employer doesnt hire you? As you put it in your message, it saves both parties time and grief. You just want to make sure that you sell yourself with your qualifications that is deserving of the salaryy expectation you have. Well Good Luck, and don't settle for less than what you will be happy with. In the long run you will be waisting your time looking for another position that will pay what you are looking for,
