There is also the part about abiding by the Senate traditions that have kept it operating for over 200 years.

McConnell is not the norm; he isn't doing his job.

the Democratic Party supported legalized race segregation? You live long enough you don't sweat a guy who supported the Infrastructure bill and will figure out a way to increase the debt ceiling. The Democrats who supported segregation were evil. Cocaine Mitch: not so much.

I am well aware about the events that separate the 19th and 20th century Democratic party. Those events are irrelevant in regards to your misunderstanding of the role of the Senate minority leader.
