Very pleased to see this today,

from my daughters' primary school, in DC. (They were there years ago.)

'The fifth graders visited the National Archives to explore how the actions of the Federal Government are based in our Constitution. They took on the roles of archivists and researchers to analyze facsimiles of primary source documents held by the National Archives. Documents included letters to a sitting president, the Supreme Court decisions Brown v. Board of Education and Dred Scott, Confederate Constitutions, and photographs of former presidents carrying out official duties. They evaluated these primary sources for their connection to specific passages in the Constitution, as well as, how they illustrated big constitutional ideas, like checks and balances or separation of powers. With this work, they developed a greater understanding of the role that the Constitution plays in our government and daily lives. #history #primaryschool #lowelschooldc'
