Ex-employee sues Kenilworth operator [charter]

http://theadvocate.com/news/2064786-123/ex-employee-sueskenilworth-operator.html

A former employee of Pelican Educational Foundation, which runs Kenilworth Science and Technology School in Baton Rouge, claims the foundation fired her in February 2011 for telling state officials about the foundation’s alleged “operational malfeasance’’ at the charter school.

<snip>

Winslow contends she was terminated because she reported to the state Department of Education that Pelican was engaged in “wrongful business practices’’ at Kenilworth.

<snip>

Winslow alleges Pelican accepted students into Kenilworth or denied them access based on whether it was believed the students would raise or lower the relevant test scores of Kenilworth students.

This was done “so that the school would show academic progress under the management of Pelican as the charter school operator,’’ the suit states.
