March and Rally in NYC Against Cuomo Ed Reform - 4 pm Thursday

A coalition of parent and teacher groups will assemble on the NYPL steps ( 42nd and 5th Ave) and march to Status Cuomo's office on E 40th street.

Andrew's re-elect campaign has pocketed over 800,000 dollars from charter school supporters and the gov is giving them more than their money's worth.

Unfortunately... we just had a mayoral election here and the guy who advocated charter limits and restrictions beat the guy who advocated Cuomo's charter policy, 73% to 23%.

Quidpro Cuomo is also abominable on virtually all aspects of public ed. Pretty much mimicking the Rahm Emanuel- Arne Duncan, Chicago style and advocating canned, simplistic non-solutions to complicated problems.

And of course... there's $$$$$$ everywhere.

Truth is... the guy doesn't know what he's doing , lacking any clear, original ideas of his own on this topic, and apparently the ability to formulate same.


So that's tomorrow, 4 pm at the library, 42nd street and Fifth.

BTW, public education impacts *everyone*. Not just parents, kids and teachers.

Governor Cuomo and charter lobby 'strong-arming' bid to evict special needs students in favor of charter expansion

Parents and public school advocates staged a dramatic protest outside the New York City Department of Education on Tuesday against a bid, backed by Governor Andrew Cuomo and financed by Wall Street lobbyists, to evict special needs students in order to make room for charter school expansion.

The demonstration is the most recent development in the battle against corporate education reform in the city, where "strong-arm" tactics by Cuomo and the charter school lobby have overriden an attempt by New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio to curb the growth of privately-funded charters.

Calling out Eva Moskowitz, CEO of the Success Academy charter chain, the demonstrators blasted her for "strong arming" the expansion of her charter schools, adding that she is "stealing classrooms from 102 special needs students."
