ASU English Professor Assaulted by Campus Police

I think we'll be hearing more about this type of thing:

Shocking dash cam footage shows the moment a female Arizona State University professor was slammed to the ground by campus police for jaywalking.

Ersula Ore was detained in May after cops spotted her wandering down the middle of a Tempe street to avoid construction works.

She tried to explain the reason why she was in the center of the road. But, before she could finish, she was asked for her ID.

The video, obtained by 3TV, shows the English professor protesting about the "disrespectful" way she was being spoken to and refusing to show her card.

"Let me see your ID or you will be arrested for failing to provide ID," the officer, identified as Stewart Ferrin, is heard saying in the clip.

Here's why I think there will be more of these stories: the police state is growing. There is no respect for anyone, not even an English teacher.

Even campus security is getting Homeland Security money. With it, they are buying ridiculous things like unmarked police cars with tinted glass. And they are going after faculty.

I recently spoke to the head of campus security at the campus where I teach. I was shocked when he told me that he has an ongoing problem with campus police officers failing to show respect to the teachers.

Also, I happened to be in municipal court that week and three faculty or staff had to appear in front of a judge because of the aggressiveness of this campus's police.
