![]() Louie Gohmert: Ban non-English speakers from schools because they ‘bring education down’ By David Edwards Tuesday, September 2, 2014 12:11 EDT Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) lashed out at President Barack Obama over the weekend because refugee children who fled from violence in Central America were being allowed to go to school in the United States, which he asserted was “not fair” to English speakers. “When the president has worked on a strategic plan to deal with ISIS — or not — maybe he didn’t have enough time to think about education,” Gohmert quipped to Fox News host Tucker Carlson. “But you think about it, he calls it a Dreamers bill, what he proposed, but it is more of a nightmare.” “It’s not fair to kids that come in and speak only Spanish, throw them in a classroom with English-speaking students. It’s unfair to both the English-speaking and to the Spanish-speaking students,” he continued. “It is not fair. And not only that, Texas is going back, and you’ve got to speak Spanish to teach English in a school. It is incredible the amount of cost that’s being shoved onto the Texas schools.” Carlson argued that immigrants who were going to school in the U.S. were part of a “scam” because some who tried to enroll were “people who were pretending to be kids who aren’t.” ![]()

1. Ban Louie Gohmert! HE ‘brings education down’
In fact, treat Texas as a captured territory, and ban anyone there from having any say over education, both within Texas and without.

2. Well... it makes sense, in a twisted, bureaucratic, Arne Duncanish sort of way.
English language learners bring down schools' tests scores and threaten a school's AYP ( Annual Yearly Progress.)
Charter schools know this. That's why they screen 'em out. >>>>Carlson argued that immigrants who were going to school in the U.S. were part of a “scam” because some who tried to enroll were “people who were pretending to be kids who aren’t.” >>> Yikes. Lotsa scams going on here, Tucker. But that ain't one of 'em. |
