For the next three months, above-normal temperatures are favored across the U.S., from coast to coast and Mexico to Canada, as well as Alaska, according to government forecasts.
In archives that go back to 1995, thats never happened, Dan Collins, a forecaster with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administrations Climate Prediction Center, said.
While it doesnt mean that a three-month-long heat wave is in store, or that there wont be cooler spells here and there, it does up the odds that 2016 will rank among the hottest years on record for the country. Its also a mark of the overall warming trend, courtesy of heat-trapping greenhouse gases accumulating in the atmosphere.

(26,257 posts)Rain will be in the forecast, and then it just disappears. I mow every 3 weeks, or so, just to keep weeds in check. The lawn is pretty much fried.
Weirdest summer I've ever experienced.

(26,257 posts)So you either have sweat pouring down, making you feel like you are in a sauna, or the sweat is evaporating as soon as it develops, making you feel like you are standing in front of an open oven.
