As the dictator of the world's largest gas station, who do you suppose benefits most from climate change? An ice-free Arctic opens vast new oil deposits to exploitation (using proprietary ExxonMobil technology). If the sea lanes are open year-round, Russia has economical means of transporting goods and materials from east to west.
Killing the Paris accord, and (as a Texas legislator suggested) leaving the global warming solution "in the hands of God" creates huge advantages for Russia, now, and in the future.
