we went to one of the dive mecca islands off the coast, Guanaja, Honduras. They would take us places to dive and there was always a one day excursion to a smaller island with a couple of nice spots to dive and we had a picnic on the beach. This side was very clean the horror was not far. If you wanted to walk around all you had to do was walk what was about a couple of blocks to get to the other side and it was nothing but trash. The entire side of that island was covered, there was little beach and the water was barely visible from the plastic and trash. It looked a lot like this but I think most of the trash then was from closer areas as it was larger pieces, not so fine as this. We did not dive in it, that just made me shiver to think of jumping into that. There are quite a few spots like this, probably many more now since I have not been there for a while. It was one of the saddest things I have ever seen.

that built a standup routine around the term "Simian Pigs", but it aptly describes humans

that we shit in our nest and even 50 years ago when we were first warned about this we just shrugged our shoulders and went on ahead. Pictures like this don't even seem to do anything anymore. It is what it is seems to be the prevailing sentiment. So very tragic.
