UK govt cuts gas, raises renewables forecasts
January 9 (Renewables Now)

The projections of the UK Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) continue to shift towards renewables and away from gas, according to an analysis yesterday by Carbon Brief.

The department publishes updated energy and emissions projections every year. It now expects 45 GW of renewables to be added by 2035, an increase from 39 GW in the 2016 outlook and from 23 GW in 2015.

Carbon Brief says the most dramatic shift in BEIS' recent forecasts is its reduced expectations for new gas capacity. It now sees only 6 GW of additional gas being installed by 2035, mainly in the next four years. BEIS projected 14 GW of new gas by 2035 in 2016, and 25 GW in 2015.

...forecast after half a century of super optimistic forecasts that didn't pan out. For decades it's been "by such and such a date" but gas use world wide is higher than it's ever been because so called renewable energy is lipstick on the gas pig.

The so called "renewable energy" industry is proficient at producing hype, less so at producing energy.

In 2035 we'll be close to 450 ppm because people buy into this horseshit.

... China, India, Africa, etc., our 21st century world civilization is toast.

An economy powered by natural gas, whenever the sun is not shining or the wind is not blowing, is nothing to celebrate.

"Better than coal" is easy. Saving what's left of our planet's natural environment is hard.

There are too many wind and solar enthusiasts shilling for the natural gas industry.

Gas makes wind and solar possible in our current consumer economy.
