Wankel rotary enginess had many advantages over standard piston engines, but it's drawbacks plus it's novelty (ever try to get someone to work on it?) led to them finally abandoning it about 10 years ago.

Kind of surprised they took another shot at it.

Gasoline-powered vehicles have to be taken off the roads entirely within 10 years to have a snowball's chance in hell of avoiding 2C of warming. I doubt they will, though. We seem determined to destroy our civilization.

Improving the efficiency of gasoline-powered vehicles by 20% won't cut it.
