EPA Press Secretary Also Leaving, Now Will Help State Department With Their . . . Uh, Mission

EDIT

Hewitt first joined EPA in July 2017, according to his LinkedIn profile. A former Republican National Committee press aide, he went to the agency from Dezenhall Resources Ltd., a strategic communications firm where he had worked from April 2016.

Another senior official in EPA's public affairs office is anticipated to leave the agency. John Konkus, a deputy associate administrator for public affairs, is expected to exit EPA soon, sources told E&E News.

EPA press officials didn't respond to questions about Konkus for this story. Politico was also first to report his coming departure. Konkus is versed in Republican politics, having worked as an executive vice president at Jamestown Associates, a GOP political consulting firm.

He helped run a field office in the Florida Panhandle for President Trump's 2016 campaign. Konkus was then part of the then-president-elect's transition team, where he helped handle communications for the Senate confirmation battle over Scott Pruitt, Trump's first EPA administrator. Konkus joined EPA in January 2017, according to his LinkedIn profile.
