As of this writing 01/05/22 10:16 EST US, 61.1% of Switzerland's Carbon Emissions Have German Origin

This is a fascinating map I've come across: https://app.electricitymap.org/zone/CH

If you scroll over a country, it breaks down, in real time the carbon cost of electricity in that country with a bar graph on the left showing the sources of the carbon. As of this writing, the carbon cost of electricity in Switzerland is 143 g/kwh. The biggest source or Switerland's carbon: It's importing 28.6% of its electricity from Germany, where the current carbon cost is 306 g CO2/kwh. (The largest source of electricity domestically produced in Switzerland is its nuclear capacity,)

The German carbon emissions are dominated by its coal plants, which as of now, is providing 28.8% of German electricity.

It also seems to be importing Polish electricity through the Czech Republic.

France is currently running at 76g CO2/kwh, with 18.77% of its emissions resulting from importing electricity from Germany, which represents only 4.65% of French Demand. (France, in turn, is exporting electricity to Spain and Britain. Four nuclear reactors in France are down for inspection.)

This of course, is a moment in time. It would be amusing to watch, were it not that the fact that there is no commercial scheme other that effectively removes this dangerous fossil fuel waste, carbon dioxide, from the atmosphere; climate change is real and has been killing people, although not at quite the rate that air pollution is.

If one is interested in something called "reality" one could do worse than to play with this fascinating map from time to time.
