I'm also seeing more of them installed in apartment complexes by landlords hoping to attract more affluent tenants.

There are charging stations in the parking lot of our local Wal-Mart.

As a nation I think we'd get more "bang for the buck" with plug-in hybrids.

Mostly these would be charged at home and would be all-electric for commuting and daily errands. For longer trips they could use carbon-neutral synthetic fuels, eliminating any concerns about "range anxiety" or power failures.

If we truly want to "save the world" as we know it we'll have to quit fossil fuels entirely. That includes natural gas used to run electric power plants.

The largest one is at the local mall and I've rarely driven by when it hasn't been occupied - there's also one at the municipal center and another one downtown. Last week a guy showed up from vacation with a brand new electric Kia and other guys were falling all over it - it was one incredibly sharp car! And I agree that the home plug-ins are much more convenient. We're on the right track - now if only the price would come down, but prices have gone up for all cars recently.
