Remember CNN's Planet in peril? Let us count the years???

I posted another thread earlier today discussing the demise of MSNBC when it hit me, When was it that I actually stopped watching CNN?

Well, when they decided to give Tea Party coverage 24/7, then they went on an Obama bashing tour of the gulf of Mexico during the deep water drilling catastrophe. That's when I refused to give them another moment of my time.

But then I thought, hey what ever happened to CNN's responsible coverage of climate change? Well, from what I can tell online they quit airing their special investigative series like Planet in Peril back in 2008. They continued to air a few episodes on wildlife, but as for the Climate, that ended a long time ago.

Now, nothing but crickets. Too sad, our most "trusted" name in news has become nothing but Fox News Lite! In the mean time, the Gulf of Mexico was severely damaged, a Hurricane rips through New Jersey, North Carolina, New York, while nearby states overflow with the downpour of rain, Governor Rick Perry denies climate change while his state is burning, the aquifers were depleted by nearly 3 ft due to the Texas drought, Colorado experiences its worst fire in history, and most recently a hurricane ripped through the midwest, without actually having a hurricane.

But hey, I hear they have fantastic ratings!

The solutions aren't political. That much I know at this point. I'll keep checking back in with D.U. out of loyalty and nostalgia. There's many good people here, but a lot of them still think the system is working even though insane people have taken it over. This is a cultural sickness, not a political disagreement.

Its seems that they are going to have to do it on their own. I agree with you, this is a cultural sickness. How sad, we really could be something truly great!

It is the biggest problem facing our species. and threatening the future of all the babies. But it comes almost last on every one of my fellow countryman's concerns. This is sickness. It is sick how oblivious and uncaring humans can be, about their OWN futures.

It's this weird American obsession with sexy stupidity. Americans are a self-destructively religious people. They'll worship anything. Makes 'em good Marks for the corporate marketers.
