Cape Wind gets $200M in financing from Danish pension fund

A Danish pension fund is kicking in $200 million to help fund Cape Wind, edging the $2.6 billion off-shore wind farm project closer to being fully financed.

In a statement released today, PensionDanmark – a nonprofit labor market pension fund with $24.7 billion in assets – said that it would provide a mezzanine loan for the project.

A mezzanine loan is a hybrid of equity and debt.

“We are delighted to participate in the Cape Wind project,” PensionDanmark CEO Torben Moger Pedersen said in the statement.
