Hydrogen Town project in the city of Kitakyushu- Toshiba's pure hydrogen residential fuel cell

The Hydrogen Town project was launched as a technical demonstration in 2011 by HySUT, in Kitakyushu city, Japan. Hydrogen is a new source of clean energy, with no carbon emissions.

Hydrogen is gaining in recognition as the next generation in clean energy production. Toshiba is developing products for the manufacturing, storing, and consumption of hydrogen, in order to use energy more efficiently with zero carbon emissions.

1. The hydrogen is made using natural gas, some is a byproduct from steel plants.

A whole series of hydrogen fuel cells are presently installed in japan and they use the natural gas lines for their energy.

This, on the other hand, I cannot.

Please think of this, if nothing else: the environmental cost of just building the hydrogen peripheral systems, only to have them worthless in a short period of time. That alone ought to put an end to these hydrogen wet dreams.

The energy has to come from somewhere, some process in the first place to get hydrogen. Hydrogen not in chemical bond with some other element or elements is not at all common on the surface of this planet and it really likes other elements and takes a lot of energy to split away from them. Hence hydrocarbons and water, both of which can be split for hydrogen and other elements.

Using the term source of energy the way this article does is confusing and inaccurate.
