Stories of dogs with muzzles taped shut?

Is it just me or does it seem like ever since the first horrific story of Caitlyn (the dog whose muzzle was taped) came out, there seems to be more and more stories of this happening?

The good news about the publicity was that $$ was raised for her recovery, her abuser was caught and she found a new home

But do you think the publicity has led to copycat idiots? I can think of at least 5 stories like this I have heard since Caitlyn's. Or maybe it has always been there.
