New US Dietary Guidelines Were Watered Down

New US Dietary Guidelines Were Watered Down by the meat industry, says Barry M. Popkin, PhD. The industry, a powerful lobby, fights restrictions focused on reducing red meat consumption. However, the health effects of meat are significant - eating more than one hot dog a week can reduce life expectancy by 25% to 35% over a 10-year period. Consume no more than a single hot dog or one bologna or salami sandwich per week - preferably less. For red meat that is not processed, eat a maximum of about two ounces a day.

I'm posting this here because we do have some members that still eat meat and are trying to cut down. I think it's always good to share health info when we find it.

Also, anyone want to cross-post this to GD and see what happens?
