Simple Truth Meatless Crumbles

I love this product! I toss it in a skillet with some hot olive oil & add about 1/3 of a cup of Bragg's Liquid Aminos & cook it up. Sometimes I add onion, depending what I'm going to do with it. This week I made kraut burgers, which I haven't had since I was a kid! They were great! A few weeks ago I made a casserole that I also hadn't had since I was a kid. This makes really good tacos, too.

1. I trust the meat in my diet more than I trust the process of making meat from non-meat items...

That said, I do make a mean black bean burger...

8. Really?

You trust the lightly-regulated right-wing meat industry more than you trust a bunch of dedicated vegan hippies?

I wouldn't.

12. I did some work in a soy bean hammermill where all sorts of fake meat was made...

I didn't know ADM is a bunch of vegan hippies....probably the same mill that makes the product in the OP...

Meat doesn't.

4. Silly

It's certainly possible that soy doesn't agree with you. You may even be allergic to soy. But the well-documented and inarguable health problems associated with eating the muscles and organs of other animals are long-term and seldom affect anyone in the short-term. The flesh of other animals may not make you sick, but what your consumption of them does to them is abominable.

Live from your heart, not theirs.

5. Well, since I'm "silly",

(an adjective which I've never heard to describe me, not even when my kids were teenagers, a very long time ago), I'll continue to eschew immediate g.i. distress (which may in fact have caused villi damage) in favor of high quality animal protein, which, as a hypoglycemic I (and the Dalai Lama) must eat.

10. Meat eaters

get so defensive when they see a vegetarian. Seriously. Someone posts a positive message about a vegan food item, and all the meat eaters feel they have to speak up and justify their choice to eat the bodies of defenseless animals.

In real life, too, all you have to do is ask someone at a party whether one of the dishes is vegetarian, and suddenly you find yourself surrounded by meat eaters defending themselves and treating you like you're a narrow-minded, dogmatic, and rude person. Whether you like it or not, you end up having to discuss and defend your dietary choices, feeling like you're walking on eggshells because everybody is clearly looking for something to attack you with. I wonder how other vegans and vegetarians deal with this.

11. As a large male vegan, I have a little game I play in those situations.

I ask the offended party a series of questions about their dietary habits that leads to a final conclusion -- they eat meat because they can, because the creatures they consume can't defend themselves.

So, it's all about dominance. At that point I lean forward a little and ask the closer -- 'so, if it's all about the ability to dominate, does that mean I can eat you if I can dominate you?'

Simple, personal, usually funny and well-received, and always thought-provoking.

The best part is that people stop commenting on it altogether. Nervous for some reason, especially the tastier-looking folk. You know, the marbled and well-proportioned.

Plus, Artisan. Mmmmm.

16. Where did you find these, CripsyQ?

We're using the crumbles from Gardein right now, but wouldn't mind expanding our palates.
