Whale Wars: Viking Shores

Meant to post this the other day, got too wrapped up in life and forgot...

Every year, the people of the Faroe Islands herd pilot whales to their shallow shores and kill them for their meat. WHALE WARS: VIKING SHORES follows the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society as it sets sail to end this ancient tradition known as "The Grind."

Friday nights, 9pm on Animal Planet. They're also doing a special on Operation Blue Rage involving the pursuit of illegal tuna fishers and one helluva net liberation.

Are these animals endangered? This is the first I have ever heard of Pilot Whales. If not, are there numbers low enough to warrant putting them on the endangered species list?
