Those who would do even sell their souls just to increase their approval ratings

He may have been a few weeks late to make his stand, but he timed it perfectly as the campaign for the Upper House elections is about to begin. Japan Restoration Party co-head Shintaro Ishihara criticized the party’s other leader, Toru Hashimoto, over his controversial remarks about “comfort women.” He called the statement a “great nuisance,” and says Osaka’s mayor should take responsibility if the party does not do well during the elections. He has said on several occasions on Tuesday that Hashimoto has caused their party “a great deal of trouble”, and owes them an apology. Ishihara is obviously being vocal about this issue now to at least salvage some of the votes for their party, without totally distancing or abandoning his co-leader.
